2009 AIO Fun Run

Bring your toys and rendezvous with your powerboat friends on the crystal clear waters of Lake Superior at The Beach Club on Madeline Island at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2009. We'll get some lunch and make plans for a great day of boating. This year we won't have an organized poker run event and there will be no registration fee! Just bring your boat and your wallet and enjoy some fun boating with your friends. Make your lodging reservation with one of our past sponsors or another favorite accommodation of your choice.

We hope you'll stay for the whole weekend and if you can make it for the entire week, some of us will be docking at the Madeline Island Yacht Club from July 31, 2009 to August 8, 2009 for a magnificent week of boating and fun around the Chequamegon Bay and Apostle Islands area. We'll make stops at some of the Apostle Islands, Madeline Island, Bayfield, Ashland, Washburn, Saxon Harbor, and Black River Harbor. We'll work hard to help stimulate the local economy and if the weather is nice, we may even make a high speed run to Grand Marais for an ice cream cone.

The first three years of the Apostle Islands Offshore Powerboat Club from 2005-2007 were a great experience with the Poker Run events we organized. We were able to accomplish many of our objectives which were laid out when we started AIO and the Apostle Islands Poker Run series. We have become widely accepted in the area and have shown that performance boaters are responsible, safe and environmentally conscientious. We've also been able to make some nice donations to the Apostle Island Lighthouse restoration fund, Make-A-Wish foundation and Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
